Monday.

I finally finished and uploaded my yuletide story. This is the first time in forever that I haven't picked up a pinch hit. I just have too much to do. I've already spread myself too thin. I've got two ficathon stories left to write by the end of the year, and one will be--well, not long, but it'll have to have a bit of meat on its bones, so I need to get to work asap.

Working on Yuletide, but I'm in that weird haze where you've just heard something really shocking and it's hard to concentrate? Meh. All I can think of is how horrible it is, when people die at an age when they think they have their entire lives ahead of them. Jesus, what a tragedy. (I know stuff like this happens every day, but it's different when you grow up knowing about someone's existence. You don't know them, but they're still there, somehow, part of your landscape.)

Weekend's been far too short. I thought I'd have so much time to write, but I've barely managed anything and it's already one o'clock. Time to knuckle down.

At least I got all of my holiday shopping down. Yay?

Brittany Murphy died. I'm so sad, you guys.

So, I made myself a compilation of my top 20 favorite songs of 2009. It was very difficult, and I'll probably be scratching my head at myself and wondering why I didn't add such and such song, or take out this one, but in general I'm very happy with my choices. I'm mostly a lover of indie music, but there are two notable exceptions on this mixtape. They stick out but I really, really enjoyed listening to them, so I can't leave them out of an honest 2009 compilation of my faves.

I wanted to say thank you to all of you who left me lovely anonymous (and not) love over at the Holiday Love Meme. It seriously made me all warm and gooey on the inside--which I probably am anyway, but that sounds gross. What I mean to say, is that it made me happy, so thank you. And, seriously, those of you who mentioned you lurk? Feel free to comment whenever. I don't bite. Hard. ;)

Also, also, I FINALLY finished the story I owed botherd: Turn the Dirt Over, which is based on J's BRILLIANT idea to turn the Gobbler's End rock scene on its end. I struggled with making this short(ish) (there was a time when 5k words might just as well have been a million for me, but Bedlam's changed that *snerk*), but I think it sort of worked itself out.

Now I only have *counts* about a million other stories to finish? *weeps*

I watched Gomorrah (highly recommended, if you don't mind serious violence/upsetting things happening) last night, and today I got to watch a video of Silvio Berlusconi getting hit in the face. My favorite part of the video, if one can say one has a favorite part of a video in which someone has his nose fractured, was counting the number of times people yell out bastardo. Anyway, it was an Italian weekend, sort of. But not really.

Went shopping today. Am writing. There was a hippo/Meg secret over at F!S, which made me unexpectedly happy. (Although there was a very strange kerfuffle in the comments.) It's not raining, though it's still a bit chilly. Not cold, just mildly chilly. I actually had a really nice day to day.

Anyway, yes, in case you were wondering why I was especially bad about replying to comments recently, now you know. I’ll get back to you if you need me to (like if you asked me a really important question that I missed, please, please let me know), but I just did a bulk delete. Most of those came from the ridiculous Skins Death Match poll (the final round goes up later, but I have a feeling I know the outcome). And, actually, if there are any Photoshop artists that find themselves really bored at the moment, would someone like to do an Effy vs Emily vs Naomi mini-banner type thing? :D?

I didn’t get to watch Criminal Minds last night. Was it good? I saw gifs (LOL violet4120, my day was made; was it from a preview or from last night’s episode?)

But, yeah, I was too busy watching Nevermind the Buzzcocks (my crush on Noel continues unabated; guys, he wore A CAPE), reading A Single Man, and writing. BTW, never start a story thinking, “Oh, yay, 2500 words should do it,” because that sort of thing will come back and bite you in the ass. Just saying.


IDEK, I just want to be the lady in yellow, being wrapped up in...cape.

Almost 4k words of botherd's fic done, but the story isn't finished, which makes me want to cry because a) way more than I wanted to write, b) J's going off for a week, and we will miss her, yes we will! Either way, I'm very near an end of sorts, so we'll see. I can't be writing long stories for all my ficathons. I just can't. There is no time!

In other news, if I get ALL of my comments at once, I'm going to cut someone, and by "someone" I mean Frank the Goat. Those Skins Death Match polls have like 200+ comments. :|

Also, also, I want to thank pirateygoodness and na_smith for the Dropbox suggestions. I love it! My files are just THERE and I don't have to rely on crappy Adobe technology in beta. ♥
